​For over 19 years Vancouver Island Art Workshops has had the privilege of hosting some of North America’s most renowned art instructors. During this time, we have gained the support of an expanding community of emerging and established artists who have grown along with us and continue to make us an integral part of their art education.

​We have a terrific line up of exciting and sought-after artists booked for years to come. We also have some very talented "hidden gems" we can't wait to introduce. Each will share their insights into exploring the creative process, learning new techniques, pushing boundaries and looking for new ways of self expression. We offer workshops in painting, drawing, printmaking, jewelry, social media for artists, and more.

​Our workshop atmosphere is open, sharing and supportive. This, coupled with our hands-on approach ensures that Vancouver island Art Workshops delivers what students and instructors alike often refer to as "the best workshops ever!"

Mary Stewart, AFCA, owner of Vancouver Island Art Workshops, is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has won numerous awards for her mixed media paintings and collage. Late to the party and primarily self taught, she knew first hand what artists needed in order to advance their skills quickly.
Disappointed by what was available, Mary recognized the need for professionally organized workshops and set out to make a difference. Large venues and international teaching talent are just some of the things that set her workshops apart.  She attends every workshop and is respected for running a fun but "tight ship".  She is also credited as the catalyst for ensuring that artists no longer have to share a table or make their art in crowded damp basements!
