Fluid and feminine, this ring embodies nature. Our focus in this project is all about taking rigid sterling silver wire and transforming it into a beautiful ring with movement and fluid lines.
You will have a selection of pearls to choose from and then work on designing and shaping the metal around it. This will be a day of fun and letting the metal speak for itself. We will use files, hammers and other methods to give dimension and shape to our various wires, letting them weave around one another and the pearl. You can opt to make your bezel out of gold fill or sterling silver. |
You will make embellishments and enhance the band with melted edges.
One of the great things about this ring is that you have the option of making it into a solid band to fit a specific sized finger or you can choose to leave the band open, allowing it to be fully adjustable. Not partial to pearls? Don't worry, there will be a good selection of natural cabochons that you can select from as well. Stunning! |
Wearable nature with this glammed up Branch Bracelet is the best way to describe it. It looks great worn by itself or stacked.
You will form your own branch in your style with hammers, files and grinding burs. You may make a thinner or thicker branch and once your branch has been formed, you may add upto 5 tube settings in various sizes to bring sparkle to this piece. There will be a good variety of synthetic and natural stones to choose from. Students will get to mix and match colours of faceted stones or keep them all the same. |
Advanced students may have time to add further embellisments by wrapping your piece with vines and making branch nubs. Stepping up your technical skills, you will fit your bracelet to your wrist for the best comfortable fit, as well as focusing on learning how to do a fun decorative yet functioning hinge. This allows for the bracelet to be put on and taken off easily. So cool! |
Let's get Embellished! This gorgeous bold ring is all about adding flare to those larger sized stones we all have in our stash, without making it wider. This allows it to remain super comfortable to wear.
We took our statement stone and raised it up!. This higher bezel allows us to add cut outs and embellishments along the sides of the stone in a way that is subtle but stunning. You will create a double half round band out of sterling silver that wraps around the outside of the bezel to become part of the design and lets us forget that it actually has a function! |

The focus on this 5 day workshop is to embrace a lot of the West Coast textures while building our silversmithing skills and these earrings are no exception. Inspired by the worn, waterlogged pieces of driftwood found along our beaches you will build up beautiful textures on your earrings (or pendant) to recreate the look of these patterns. We will sweat solder thin sheets of metal to achieve this look and the give them a little dimension with some forming techniques. |
By focusing on sweat soldering, you will establish their soldering skills and design layout skills.
Simple yet powerful, these earrings will make a statement. And depending on personal preference, you can scale them up or down in size or just simple make pendants if earrings aren't for them. This day will be packed with fun and lots of creative energy! You can also choose to highly polish them or add a patina to enhance the textures. |
