The “Spiritual Language of Art” Workshop
![]()
ARE YOU READY TO PAINT, PAINT AND PAINT SOME MORE?
If so, we have an amazing abstract art workshop coming up with artist, author & teacher Steven Aimone.
The first half of the workshop will focus on the language of non-objective composition. You'll develop your understanding of what nonobjective arrangements mean, and how and why they work. The rest of the week we will explore a variety of ways of abstracting from visual reference. A series of shared challenges will guide you on your exploration. Paint most of a 20 yard roll of 48" paper!
Long days, late nights - Not for the faint of heart!
What some of our past students are saying...
“Thank you for this remarkable experience….I don’t want to go home”
“Steven is unpretentious, very knowledgeable, put in long hours and had a lot to give”
“Ï will never paint the same way again!”
“So much to learn, fast paced, wonderfully supportive group, I’m exhausted!”Steven Aimone is a nationally recognized arts educator and accomplished artist. The author of two books, Aimone holds an MFA in drawing and painting from Brooklyn College. His popular workshops encourage participants to consider drawing, painting, and design as dynamic ways to express their inner states of being.

Developing Unique Surfaces for Watermedia
![]()
Learn the elements and principles of design from a Master. The foundation for all successful artwork. This new workshop emphasizes the development and use of incredibly rich, textured surfaces. “Build” becomes a key word because the uniqueness of the surfaces lies in the variety of materials gathered for use in the process. Anything is usable – papers, fabrics, metals, cardboard, washi, paper towels, napkins, dried flowers, wood, string, lace and so on. Once this exciting surface is developed it is covered with white gesso and allowed time to dry.
Color can be applied with either transparent watercolor or acrylic paint – or both – or with other stuff. The sky is the limit!! See the supply list for possible supports on which to build these low-relief, sculpture-like surfaces. For painting, any type of image is appropriate from realism to abstraction, to nonobjective. The entire process is incredibly exciting and challenging and is a new and unexplored direction in watermedia work.Something new every minute. Lots of one on one time. Design, composition and more.
Gerald Brommer, NWS, AWS, WCWS, RMNW, author of more than twenty books, has painted and conducted artist workshops around the world and is in great demand as a teacher, consultant, and art juror throughout the United States and abroad. He is noted for his sincerity, genial personality, humor, and masterful ability to guide and inspire artists at all levels of experience.
